Language support should help a client understand and participate
Understanding the words on a document is not the same as determining its legal effect. Once the service scope is defined, we explain documents, procedure, deadlines and action items in a language the client understands and help organize scattered material into a timeline that can be checked.
Areas of support
- Attorney communication in Mandarin, Cantonese and English
- Explanation of legal documents and government notices in matters handled by the firm
- Question lists and document preparation for consultations, interviews or court appearances
- Document indexes, event timelines and missing-material checklists
- Bilingual communication coordination related to the matter
Limits of this service
This service is not automatically a substitute for a court-appointed interpreter, certified translation, notarization or independent legal advice on a matter the firm has not accepted. Any particular translation, interpretation or document service must be confirmed based on its use, qualification requirements, confidentiality and scope.
Helpful documents for a consultation
Provide the complete document rather than an isolated page, and identify its source, date received, response deadline and intended use. Do not mark the original; make a separate copy for annotations.
