New York & New Jersey Federal and State Criminal Defense

New York, New Jersey and federal criminal matters involving investigations, white-collar and financial offenses, fraud, money laundering, drugs, violence, theft, domestic violence, DWI and other state charges.

Criminal defense begins by making the situation visible

Criminal matters often demand consequential decisions before the client has the full record. What investigators have, where a charge may be filed, whether contact with particular people is permitted and when the next appearance occurs must be answered before anyone can responsibly discuss outcome.

Founding attorney Curran is licensed in New York and New Jersey and admitted in the Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York. He brings approximately 30 years of criminal-defense and courtroom experience.

Focus matters

  • Federal investigations, grand-jury subpoenas, searches and seizures
  • White-collar, securities and financial offenses, fraud and money laundering
  • Drug, firearms, violent, theft and property offenses
  • Domestic-violence allegations, protective orders and related charges
  • DWI, dangerous driving and other state misdemeanors or felonies
  • Immigration, licensing, employment or business consequences of a criminal record

Different stages require different work

01 | Investigation, subpoena and arrest

Identify the agency, scope and communication boundaries, preserve favorable material and avoid steps that may unintentionally increase risk.

02 | Arraignment, bail and release conditions

Confirm the charges and court dates, address bail, release conditions and protective orders, and explain the restrictions the client must follow.

03 | Evidence, motions and pretrial negotiation

Review reports, electronic records and witness accounts; examine collection procedures; and identify evidentiary gaps, motion issues and negotiating room.

04 | Trial, sentencing and appeal

Prepare around admissible evidence, witness credibility, legal elements and collateral consequences, with sentencing and appellate issues assessed when necessary.

Before a consultation

Bring investigation notices, subpoenas, charging papers, court orders, bail or release documents, and relevant photos, video, messages and witness information. Do not delete electronic material or miss a court date.

Start with the facts and the deadline.

Even if your file is incomplete, tell us what happened, when it happened, and whether a court date or response deadline is approaching. Call directly for urgent matters.
