FAQ
These general answers are not a substitute for advice based on your specific facts, documents and deadlines.
Do you handle New York, New Jersey and federal court matters?
Attorney Curran is licensed in New York and New Jersey and admitted in the Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York. A specific engagement remains subject to review of location, court, parties, deadlines and potential conflicts.
What should I prepare for the first consultation?
Bring subpoenas, charging papers, court orders, contracts, governance records, transaction and payment records, intellectual-property materials or other key documents, together with a one-page timeline and the nearest deadline. An incomplete file is fine—start with the facts.
What should I do after a subpoena, search notice or arrest?
Contact counsel promptly to identify the investigating agency, charges, court date, release or bail conditions and potential consequences. Do not miss a court date, discuss the matter casually or delete records before understanding the risks.
When should counsel become involved in a business dispute?
When payment, control, performance, termination or the other party’s representations become disputed, preserve contracts, email, accounting records and original electronic files and assess evidence, forum terms, litigation cost and collectability early.
What documents matter in a securities or banking matter?
Bring investment or loan agreements, subscription and disclosure materials, collateral and guaranty documents, account records, payment histories, regulatory or counterparty notices and relevant communications.
How are legal fees determined?
Fees depend on the matter, urgency, expected work, court appearances and document complexity. The scope and fee arrangement will be explained before engagement.
Are phone or video consultations available?
Yes. Phone and video consultations are available by appointment so the attorney can understand the matter and help you prepare relevant documents.
